Lending Beauty
People think the poet is so grand,
I don't think diamonds are divine
Rubies and sapphires are just as bland
Even strawberries are bitter, my friend,
She lends her beauty to everything around.

But the beauty is in the lady
Rather than in the poet's head or hand.
Except when they are graced
By the hand of that lady of mine.
Until I see them sitting pretty
Upon her satin soft hand.
That is true only
Until I taste them on her lips again.
She has plenty to lend.
Her endless beauty abounds.
